PIA Announces Impressive Year To Date Usage
Peoria, IL—The Metropolitan Airport Authority of Peoria (MAAP) released year to date usage reports for March and is pleased to report a significant increase in both passenger travel and freight service at the General Wayne A. Downing Peoria International Airport (PIA).
As of March 31, 2012, passenger service is up 10% over 2011 and 2012 freight is up 22.02% over last year.
“The Airport Authority, director and staff are doing a great job of capitalizing on our new terminal,” stated City of Peoria Mayor Jim Ardis. “The addition of the Atlanta service to our existing destinations gives Central Illinois the ability to connect to the world without the hassle and expense of driving to a big city airport. The more we utilize PIA, the easier it is for the Authority to retain existing nonstop flights and add new ones.”
