American Airlines Slashes Peoria Ticket Prices up to 69%

American Airlines recently reduced Peoria ticket prices by an average of 34.3%. Some destinations were cut as much as 69%.

In a meeting with American and Representative Ray LaHood, the airport authority used consumer research results to demonstrate that Peoria and Bloomington were competing airports rather than separate markets.

American responded by lowering Peoria ticket prices an average of 54% and increasing some Bloomington flights by as much as 146%.

"It's now a balanced market for these flights," says Fred Traub, director of operations at the airport. "Evidently, American agreed they were overcharging some travelers and undercharging others. Frankly, it's great news for Peoria."
