Northwest Airlines Slashes Prices, Increases Service for Peoria

Northwest recently announced that fares from Peoria to several top destinations have been dramatically reduced. The airline has also increased service to Detroit from one to three flights because of the increase in international destinations.

The Detroit flights will depart daily from Peoria at 9:00 a.m., 3:25 p.m., and 7:20 p.m. Fares have been reduced by 64% to Seattle and even more to Detroit.

A Breakthrough Meeting
The announcements of reduced fares and increased service came during a recent meeting where representatives from the airport authority, Caterpillar, Congressman Ray LaHood, and State Representative David Leitch met with Northwest Airlines officials.

"We consider Peoria to be a dynamic community and have restructured our air service and airfares to better meet the needs of air travelers in Central Illinois," states a Northwest executive.

Community Support
"This shows that community teamwork pays off," says Representative Leitch. "Having Caterpillar, elected officials, the Peoria Chamber, and the airport authority meet face to face with airline executives pays great dividends."

"This is more good news for the GPRA," says Congressman LaHood. "We look forward to continuing our efforts at working with the airport authority and local community leaders to provide more options and affordable air service from our great facility."
