Delta Connection ASA Launches Service
(PEORIA, Ill.) — A year-long courtship between the Greater Peoria Airport Authority and Delta Connection ASA paid off this morning when the first of three daily flights left Peoria and headed for Atlanta.
Were thrilled," said Dick Blaudow, chairman of the airport authority board. Weve worked a long time to see this happen. Business leaders, civic leaders, elected officials "everyone came together to show Delta what a special community this is."
A wholly owned subsidiary of Delta Airlines, Delta Connection ASA is a regional air carrier that operates 50-passenger regional jets which are being used for the Peoria-to-Atlanta flights.
The new flights offer additional advantages for Peoria travelers. As a warm-weather destination, Atlanta avoids most weather delays and cancellations. And the Delta Atlanta hub is the largest offered downstate, with more than 170 destinations.
"Weve added these flights at a great time," Blaudow added. "Our passenger numbers have been climbing steadily all year long. And so far, we've grown faster than any other downstate airport. Landing Delta was the icing on the cake."
