American Eagle to Add Service from Peoria to DFW

FORT WORTH, Texas - American Eagle announced that the carrier will expand regional jet flying out of Greater Peoria Regional Airport, adding new jet service to Dallas/Fort Worth. Effective July 15, American Eagle will operate two daily round-trip flights with the ERJ-140 regional jet.

"We have been considering adding service from Central Illinois to our hub in Dallas/Fort Worth for some time," said American Eagle President Peter Bowler. "The people of Peoria, their elected officials, as well as airport staff, have all been very supportive of American Eagle, which helped in making the decision to add service."

In addition to new service to Dallas/Fort Worth from Peoria, American Eagle, will expand service between Peoria and Chicago O'Hare on May 1, adding one flight each weekday to provide travelers with a total of six round trips each day.

"Once again, there is good news to announce for the Peoria Airport," said U.S. Congressman Ray LaHood. "I applaud American Eagle for expanding its service out of Peoria, and for adding another nonstop destination for Peoria travelers. I know officials at the Peoria Airport are constantly working to expand service and to improve the facility. Today's announcement is a testament to their hard work."

"Today's announcement is great news for the City of Peoria and for all the travelers who use the Greater Peoria Airport," said U.S. Senator Dick Durbin. "Quality air service is essential for economic growth. It means jobs, access to major markets and tourism. Over the past few months, I have had the opportunity to work with the executives at American Eagle on these issues, and I am very pleased with the response by the airline to the local community."

"We truly value our partnership with American Eagle. With these additional flights, American will now offer nonstop service to Chicago, St. Louis, and Dallas/Fort Worth with 12 daily flights and over 480 seats a day," said Solomon Balraj, Director of Airports, Greater Peoria Regional Airport. "This provides an outstanding level of premium air service and reliability for Central Illinois."
