Peoria, IL — On December 1st, the Greater Peoria Regional Airport (“GPRA”) turned off its late 1970’s PA System, and “turned up the volume” by making its first public announcement from a new state of the art sound system that can be heard throughout the Terminal Building and surrounding grounds.
Interstate Electronics Company, based in Willowbrook, Illinois was contracted to install a new digital paging system designed specifically for airport applications. The system will include a new mainframe, amplifiers, and 140 contemporary styled speakers throughout the airport and grounds. An ambient noise analysis system will ensure that the new speaker volumes are optimum for the actual noise level in the Airport by adjusting the volume up or down based upon the crowd noise.
Interim Director Mary DeVries stated, “The new PA system couldn’t have come at a better time. With the holidays upon us and large numbers of travelers utilizing the airport, pages regarding flights and general public announcements will be able to be heard by all clearly and concisely.”
