GPRA Reports Most Passengers in 27 Years

Peoria, IL — The Greater Peoria Regional Airport has reported the most passengers using the Airport in more than 27 years. More than 520,034 passengers used the Airport during 2005, an increase of 14.94% percent from 2004.

Airport officials credit the airlines’ competitive pricing, great advertising, and Terminal renovations to have played a part in central Illinois travelers choosing to “FLY PEORIA.” “With the enthusiasm of the community the Airport experienced a banner year, which it has not experienced since 1978 with reporting over 500,000 passengers,” said Interim Director, Mary DeVries.

In 2006, the Airport Authority will continue to make technological enhancements to its facilities and seek new air service opportunities to better serve the public and to improve upon the infrastructure already in place. With the support of the community, anything is possible!

The Airport Commission appreciates the response from the Tri-County travelers in helping the Airport to have such a significant year for passenger growth.
