Greater Peoria Regional Airport Authority Names New Director Of Airports
Peoria, IL —The Greater Peoria Regional Airport Authority has named their new Director of Airports. Ken R. Spirito, A.A.E. will take over on April 3, 2006 as Director of both the Greater Peoria Regional Airport and Mt. Hawley Airport.
Mr. Spirito, currently the Assistant Executive Director of the Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport in Gulfport, MS brings fourteen years of experience in developing and managing airports. “The Airport Authority is ready and excited to have Mr. Spirito lead, manage and develop our airport system and position the Greater Peoria Regional Airport as Central Illinois’ leading air service and freight handling airport,” said Dean Heinzmann, Airport Authority Chairman.
Originally from Long Island, New York, Mr. Spirito has worked at several airports in the Midwest, Southeast and Northeast. In previous positions, he was responsible for working with legislators and developing aeronautical and non-aeronautical business. Mr. Spirito has managed over $250 million in capital improvements at Gulfport-Biloxi and was recently named one of the top 10 business leaders in South Mississippi. Mr. Spirito is an Accredited Airport Executive (A.A.E.) and is an active member of the American Association of Airport Executives.
“I am proud to have been selected for this leadership role. I will work hard every day with the Board, Staff, Local, State and Federal officials to further develop, lead and manage the Greater Peoria Regional Airport and Mt. Hawley Airport,” said Ken Spirito, incoming Director of Airports.
Mr. Spirito is married and together with his wife Suzanne, they have two daughters. In the coming weeks, they will be relocating to the Greater Peoria area.
