Peoria Tee's Off New Service to Phoenix
Airline Celebrates the First Flight with Special Fly Free* Offer
(Peoria, Ill.) Central Illinois scores a hole-in-one as local residents take off on the first Allegiant Air flight from Peoria, Ill. to Phoenix-Mesa, Ariz. To celebrate the launch of Peoria’s only nonstop service to Arizona, the low-cost airline is offering the opportunity to FLY FREE* to Phoenix-Mesa when purchasing a complete vacation package.
“We are extremely pleased to offer the Central Illinois community another sunny vacation destination,” Maurice J. Gallagher Jr., Allegiant Travel Company president and CEO, said. “This is an exciting new addition for our airline and our customers as we launch the only nonstop, all-jet service between Peoria and Arizona.”
The FLY FREE* promotion offers customers the chance to experience the breathtaking scenery, endless sun, unmatched resorts and miles of world-class golf courses Phoenix-Mesa has to offer. Just purchase one air/hotel package from one of the airline’s 27 hotel partners by Nov. 10 and the second person flies free*.
The new flights operate twice weekly, with service Wednesday and Saturday. Flights depart the Greater Peoria Regional Airport at 1:20 p.m. arriving in Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport at 2:40 p.m. Flights leaving Phoenix depart at 7:40 a.m. arriving in Peoria at 12:45 p.m. (all flight times are local.)
Allegiant currently offers low-cost flights to four other destinations from Peoria. Las Vegas, Nev. service began March 3, 2004 and flights to the Tampa Bay, Fla. area began Dec. 12, 2006. Nonstop flights to Fort Lauderdale, Fla. will begin Nov. 13 and to Orlando-Sanford, Fla. Nov. 16.
“The new service will allow the residents of Central Illinois to access the Phoenix/Mesa area without connecting,” Ken Spirito, Director of Airports, said. “Allegiant Air continues to set the standard for reliable and affordable air service”
The airline said its strong demand from current customers and input from local community leaders indicates the Peoria area will welcome the new nonstop flights and low fares to the Phoenix-Mesa area. The new service will offer the community another low-cost alternative to connecting flights and long drives.
