Traveling with Animals
On December 10, 2020, the U.S. Department of Transportation (Department) published in the Federal Register a final rule to amend the Department’s Air Carrier Access Act regulation on the transport of service animals by air. In that final rule, the Department allows airlines to require passengers traveling with service animals to provide carriers with two forms of documentation developed by the Department – a U.S. Department of Transportation Service Animal Air Transportation Form and a U.S. Department of Transportation Service Animal Relief Attestation Form. Under the Paperwork Reduction Act, no person is required to respond to a collection of information unless it displays a valid Office of Management and Budget (OMB) control number. In accordance with this requirement, the Department announces that OMB has assigned control number “2105-0576” to the information collection requirements found in the Traveling by Air with Service Animals final rule. The expiration date for these forms is December 31, 2023.
Each airline has their own individual policies. Please visit each webpage for information particular to the airline in which you will travel.
