First Time Flyers

At PIA, we understand not everyone is a Frequent Flyer! To help ease the pressures of flying, we have compiled a list of items to help you prepare for your trip!

Please plan for and prepare for the following:

• Check in online (up to 24 hours before flight but no less than 45 minutes)
• Download APP
  • Skip Line – except with checked bag
  • Print boarding pass at home or use APP
• Arrive at least 2 hours prior to flight
• TSA rules for carry-on and checked bags
  • 3-1-1 Rule
  • What can I bring?
• Check with airline for baggage restrictions
• Travel documents
  • TSA identification information
  • Passport / Visa (if needed)
  • Driver’s license / State ID – Real ID needed beginning May 7, 2025
  • Children under 2 – Need Birth Certificates
  • Children 2-17 – No ID required within the U.S.
• Charged phone, charger, headphones, music (predownloaded), movies (predownloaded), travel pillow
• Dress comfortably / easily removable shoes
• Dry snacks permitted.
• Drinks can be purchased after security.
