Peoria International Airport

PIA adds new nonstop flights to Nashville (BNA)

Starting in June, the General Wayne A. Downing Peoria International Airport (PIA) will offer nonstop service to Nashville!

“We are very excited about this new opportunity to connect Central Illinois travelers to another signature destination with Allegiant.  In addition to the leisure focus, Nashville is also a popular business destination for the Peoria Area.  We have a long history with Allegiant dating back to some of their earliest routes and look forward to strengthening our partnership with them as we add this new Nashville service”, said Gene Olson, Director of Airports.

With the addition of Nashville, PIA will now fly to 7 locations with Allegiant.  Nashville (BNA) was recently named a base within the Allegiant network and received a number of new service destinations during the January 14 announcement, including PIA.

Traveler numbers at PIA have continued to increase throughout 2019 with increased flights planned for Spring-Summer of 2020.  Adding Nashville to the line-up will compliment current schedules and project further passenger increases throughout 2020.

Metropolitan Airport Authority of Peoria Chairwoman Karen Jensen noted that Peoria’s growth and expanding air service is due to strong support from the business community and a direct flight to BNA only enhances the area’s opportunities.

“We have so many companies in Peoria and our surrounding communities that do business around the world. Being able to offer new opportunities is important to business development and our local economy.” said Jensen, who also serves as president and CEO of Farnsworth Group, a Peoria-based engineering and architecture firm with offices across the country.

The Nashville flights will be offered June – November on Thursday and Sundays, utilizing their current fleet of Airbus aircraft as they expand their service nationwide.  This flight will not only connect Central Illinois residents to a national music hot spot, numerous colleges and universities, and major league sports including the Tennessee Titans and Nashville Predators, but will also reinforce the region’s connections to new and existing business opportunities.
