Badge Process

An airport badge is required for all employees and unescorted contractors working beyond the security checkpoint, as well as inside of the air operations area (AOA).  Obtaining a PIA badge is a multistep process that normally takes a couple weeks to complete.  The badging process is as follows:

New SIDA Badges

Step 1:  Application & Initial Appointment

  • Download (below) and print the PIA Security Badge Request Form.
  • Read/complete the form and have your employer’s Authorized Signatory sign the “Certification by Company/Employer”.
  • Ensure you are in possession of two forms of acceptable identification. Review the List of Acceptable Documents below. Ensure all documents are valid/unexpired.
  • Call Airport Operations at (309) 697-8272 x110 to schedule your initial appointment. 
    • You must bring your completed PIA Security Badge Request Form AND two forms of acceptable identification to this appointment.
    • Arrive on time for your appointment. Applicants arriving late may be rescheduled.
    • The Airport Operations Office is located on the first floor of the main terminal to the right of the airline ticket counters.

Step 2:  Training & Badge Issuance

  • Your employer’s Authorized Signatory will be notified when your application process has reached Step 2 (up to 14 days after you have completed Step 1).
  • Call Airport Operations at (309) 697-8272 x110 to schedule your training appointment.
    • You must bring your two forms of acceptable identification to this appointment.
    • Arrive on time for your appointment. Applicants arriving late may be rescheduled.
  • Allow at least one hour to complete the training and successfully pass a quiz.
    • If your badge includes a driving endorsement, a practical training session will follow completion of the written training.
  • After successful completion of all training, the badge will be issued.
New AOA Badges

Step 1: Application & Initial Appointment

  • Download (below) and print the PIA AOA/T-Hangar Application Form.
  • Read/complete the form.
  • If you are an employee of a company that requires access to the T-Hangar/AOA area, your employer’s Authorized Signatory must sign the appropriate section of the request form.
    • If you are a T-Hangar tenant, leave this section blank.
  • Ensure you are in possession of two forms of acceptable identification. Review the “List of Acceptable Documents” below. Ensure all documents are valid/unexpired.
  • Call Airport Operations at (309) 697-8272 x110 to schedule your initial appointment. 
    • You must bring your completed PIA Security Badge Request Form AND two forms of acceptable identification to this appointment.
    • Arrive on time for your appointment. Applicants arriving late may be rescheduled.
    • The Airport Operations Office is located on the first floor of the main terminal to the right of the airline ticket counters.

Step 2: Training & Badge Issuance

  • You will be notified when your application process has reached Step 2 (usually 5-7 days, but can be up to 14 days, after you have completed Step 1).
  • Call Airport Operations at (309) 697-8272 x110 to schedule your training appointment.
    • You must bring your two forms of acceptable identification to this appointment.
    • Arrive on time for your appointment. Applicants arriving late may be rescheduled.
  • Allow at least 30 minutes to complete the training and successfully pass a quiz.
  • After completion of all training, the badge will be issued.
